  Press Release December 8, 2004
    LAKE FOREST, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 2004--
ON-Q Offered As Post-Surgical Standard of Care for Surgeries
Performed at Beverly Hills Surgical Institute

I-Flow Corporation (NASDAQ: IFLO), today announced a strategic relationship with the Beverly Hills Surgical Institute (BHSI), the largest plastic surgery group in the country consisting of 14 of the nation's leading plastic surgeons at their 11 facilities throughout Southern California. BHSI is making ON-Q(R) PainBuster(R) available to its patients undergoing cosmetic/plastic surgeries with the realization that many patients often complain that recovery is worse than the procedure itself. ON-Q offers BHSI patients effective pain relief and the advantage of being able to get back to normal faster.

"Some of our cosmetic surgery clients are concerned about their post-surgical experience because they want to resume their busy, demanding lives as quickly as possible," said Dr. Teresa Ghazoul, Chief of Plastic Surgery of BHSI. "We reviewed the clinical studies that support the use of ON-Q with plastic surgery, and felt that this is an area where we can truly improve our patients' experiences dramatically. We are happy to enhance our practice so that we can make our patients more comfortable in the days and weeks following surgery."

"At BHSI, we are committed to excellence in patient satisfaction," said Lee Mercer, Chief Operating Officer of Beverly Hills Surgical Institute. "With ON-Q, we can provide a virtually pain and nausea-free post-surgical experience and thus we feel that this strategic relationship is another way of accomplishing our goal of exemplary patient care."

More than 2.8 million cosmetic plastic surgery procedures were performed in 2003, up 41 percent from 2002. ON-Q PainBuster is currently used following many cosmetic surgeries including breast augmentation and/or reduction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and some reconstructive surgeries. ON-Q PainBuster recently received enhanced indications for use from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is now labeled to provide significantly better pain relief than narcotics alone and significantly less need for narcotics after surgery.

"With any elective surgery, patients would like a pain-free recovery and a return to normal as soon as possible and with ON-Q physicians can improve the post-surgical outlook for patients," said Donald M. Earhart, President and CEO of I-Flow Corporation. "Cosmetic surgery is a growing area that is very exciting and we are looking forward to working with the Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Institute. BHSI is clearly at the forefront of plastic surgery in the markets that they serve and ON-Q is yet another way of improving their surgical outcomes resulting in more satisfied patients."

About ON-Q PainBuster

ON-Q is now labeled to significantly reduce pain and narcotics intake after surgery. ON-Q PainBuster is a simple yet elegant device that consists of a small balloon pump that holds a local anesthetic (a pain-numbing medicine) and delivers it through a tiny, specially designed tube (catheter) directly into the surgical site. The proprietary ON-Q Soaker(TM) Catheter is designed to provide more even distribution of local anesthetic over a wider area, as compared to other catheters, because of its patented wicking capabilities. ON-Q PainBuster delivers narcotic-free pain relief for many surgeries, including: cesarean section, hysterectomy, knee replacement, mastectomy, cardio-vascular/thoracic, foot and ankle and many cosmetic procedures. ON-Q PainBuster helps patients avoid the side effects of narcotics so they can get back to their normal lives faster. Currently, 39 studies on the use of ON-Q have been completed and published and more are underway to demonstrate the benefits of ON-Q in additional areas such as pediatrics and wound healing.
