Company's Subsidiary, AcryMed, Responds to Plea from Chinese
Partner; Ships Cases of SilvaSorb(R) Antimicrobial Gel to Quake Site
With Help from Local FedEx
LAKE FOREST, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 2008--I-Flow
Corporation (NASDAQ:IFLO), through its wholly-owned subsidiary
AcryMed, announced today it has donated 1,000 tubes of its SilvaSorb
antimicrobial gel product to the Red Cross of China for distribution
to earthquake victims in Sichuan, China. The company offered its help
last week by donating the available product and arranged for immediate
shipping to China after a plea from its Chinese partner.
According to reports out of China, the recent earthquake has left
thousands injured and created unclean conditions, raising fear of the
spread of dangerous infections. AcryMed's SilvaSorb is a unique
topical gel containing a highly effective silver antimicrobial
compound that kills bacteria and fungus commonly associated with
wounds and burns. Those who use it may significantly reduce the risk
of contracting a life-threatening infection.
"Stemming the tide of infections will be critical to saving
lives," said AcryMed's chief technology officer and founder, Bruce
Gibbins, a microbiologist. "SilvaSorb is a gel that requires no
training to apply and the antimicrobial technology it contains can
have a significant impact on reducing life-threatening infections
contracted by the wounded. We were glad to be able to assist the
relief efforts."
Gibbins further commented, "Three years ago we were also able to
assist Medical Teams International in helping the Tsunami victims in
South Asia. As a company that is committed to helping those who really
need it, we are proud to be able to contribute what we can."
SilvaSorb was recently cleared by the FDA for over the counter
distribution and is available as a CVS brand anti-microbial silver gel
in CVS/pharmacy stores throughout the United States. SilvaSorb is also
distributed to medical professionals in the U.S. by Medline
Industries.
